Green Butterfly Box

Hello! Today I have a box to show you, but first I wanted to mention a few new sites to check out:

The New Idea Center for Gina K and StampTV is now live. Be sure to check out the tabs at the top of the page to find ideas for all your favorite stamp sets. Visit right away and scroll down. You find a chance to win my latest stamp set. Hurry, contest ends soon!

Scor-Pal has a new blog! Be sure to check it out. They also have a Facebook fan page with a contest to win a Kindle Reader. I'm entering this project. Join them on Facebook and tell them I sent you. :)

Card Maker Magazine also has a new blog. I'm really excited to see what they have to share in the up coming months.

And now onto my box. I cut a piece of Pure Luxury Lime Green cardstock to 9 by 8 inches. Using my Scor-pal, I scored at 1/2, 2, 7 and 8 1/2 inches on the 9 inch side.

I rotated the cardstock and scored the 8 inch side at 1, 1 1/2, 3 1/2 and 5 inches.

I creased on all the score lines then cut away the segments as show to make the lid that folds over.

Next I cut away the little segments on the side, leaving two tabs. I also cut along the score lines, as shown.

I wanted rounded corners on the tabs, so I folded over the section I just cut along so it would fit in my corner rounder.

I also rounded the top flap.

I turned the un-assembled box over and added Scor-tape to the outsides of the side flaps.

Here you can see how I began to assemble. I turned it back over and adhered the side flaps to the back.

Then I adhered the other side flaps to the front. The finished size of the box is 5 by 2 inches, just perfect to fit a small package of those yummy Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

To decorate the box top, I cut a piece of Pure Luxury White, to 4 by 1 1/2 inches and sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.

Then sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink.

Sponged Memento Grape Jelly from the top.

I stamped the small flowers, from Celebrate The Season, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored with Copics, starting with RV25.

Added RV21 on the petals, then added Y17 to the centers.

For the foliage, I used YG21, with YG25 to shade.

Next, I stamped the small butterfly, on a piece of Pure Luxury white, and colored with Copics, starting with YG25.

Added YG21.

Then filled in with Y17.

I decided the butterfly needed more contrast, so I added G07 along the outside and YR04 to the base of the wings.

I colored a second, larger butterfly and cut them both out. The were adhered to the background with Pop Dots. I layered with a piece of Pure Luxury Passionate Pink and tied a yellow bow around the box to hold the front flap closed.

Supplies I used on this project...
